Phone answering for businesses that already get found online

The receptionist for when the enquiry's already paid for.

You've already paid to get found — a website, maybe Google Ads, a strong listing. Every call that goes unanswered is spend that didn't convert. Answerwise answers as your business, takes down what the enquiry's about, and texts you the details within a minute after the call.

Coastal LettingsIllustrative call, Amy's with a viewing
Hello, you're through to Coastal Lettings. This call is recorded. Amy's out with a viewing at the moment, so I'm taking the details. What can I help with?
I saw the two-bed on Clifton Drive online, is it still available?
Let me take a few details so Amy can call you back. Can I take your name?
Chris.
And is it just to view, or do you have questions about the listing first?
Just to view really.
Lovely. Which days would suit you best?
A minute later, on Amy's phone

Hear it now, no sign-up.

It answers in your business's name. If a caller would rather speak to a person, it takes their number and flags the call to you.

Ring it yourself. Nobody rings you back to sell you anything.

Tell it what your business does, then pretend you're a client or customer getting in touch about something you saw on your own website.

Or press the button in the corner of this page and allow your microphone.

How it works

Three steps. You keep your own number.

1
Divert when you're out, in a meeting, or with a client

Forward your calls to your Answerwise number, or all the time. It's one setting on your phone.

2
It answers as your business

Takes the enquiry, what it's about — the property for an agent, the appointment for a clinic, the vehicle for a garage — and whether they're new or existing. Then it asks the best time to call back.

3
You get a text and an email

Everything you need to call back and convert it, within a minute. You reply when you're free.

It can't see your diary on the £39 plan, so it takes the enquiry and you confirm by call or text. Booking straight into your diary can be set up on request.

Why Answerwise, not the others

There are a few call-answering services about.

Built for your business, not a generic call-centre script

It asks about the property for an agent, the appointment type for a clinic, the vehicle for a garage. Not one script with your name swapped in.

Ring it before you buy, no sign-up

The demo number above is the real thing. You ring it; nobody rings you back to sell you anything.

Plain about what it does

It answers in your business's name, takes the caller's details and passes them to you. It does not diagnose, quote, dispatch a tradesperson or promise attendance, and it never pretends to be a person.

A northern voice you choose, male or female

Pick from a choice of northern voices so it sounds like it's from round here, plus a UK number with your local area code where we can get one.

Three prices. Pick by how busy your phone is.

Plans include a monthly minute allowance. Standard setup included; custom phone-system work is quoted separately. No contract: I tell you before any extra minutes are charged. Cancel any time.

Try it free for 7 days, up to 40 minutes of calls. Cancel before day 8 and you pay nothing.

Busier office, or more than one of you? £99 a month covers 300 minutes and sends the text to up to three people. £249 covers 800 minutes and can book into your diary on request. Email philip@answerwise.co.uk and I'll set it up.

Questions people ask

Do I need to install anything?

No. It's one divert setting on your phone. We send you the exact steps for your network.

What happens if it doesn't understand?

It asks once more, then takes a message and flags the call so you know to ring back.

Is it a real person?

No. It's an automated assistant, and it says so if a caller asks. If someone would rather speak to a person, it takes their number and flags the call to you. Calls are recorded so you can listen back.

What if I'm busy all day?

Divert all your calls. You get every one as a text, so no enquiry's missed.

Can it book me in?

It takes the enquiry and the best time to call back, and you confirm by text. Booking straight into your diary can be set up on request.

What if I go over 200 minutes?

Nobody is cut off mid-call. If you go over your minutes, I'll text you first. Extra minutes are 25p each, or we move you to the next plan. You are never charged without being told first.

Can I cancel?

Any time. There's no contract.

How is this different to a voicemail message?

A voicemail just says "leave a message." This actually asks what the enquiry's about — the property for an agent, the appointment type for a clinic, the vehicle for a garage — and the best time to call back, then texts you a proper summary, not just a name and number. If a plain voicemail already gets you what you need, you don't need this — plenty do fine without it.
